Objectives
- Describe the current standards of care for the management of septic shock, including the role of antibiotics, vasopressors, fluid resuscitation and stress ulcer prophylaxis (SUP).
- Evaluate the clinical evidence supporting the use of vasopressors and other adjunctive therapies in the treatment of septic shock to optimize patient outcomes.
- Compare prior and updated sepsis guidelines to identify key changes impacting clinical practice.
- Apply current evidence-based guidelines to the recognition and management of septic shock, including timely antimicrobial therapy, fluid resuscitation, and vasopressor selection.
