Objectives

  • Describe the current indications and standards of care for the use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) according to guideline recommendations.
  • Analyze and evaluate current literature supporting the use of DOACs in special patient populations, including extremes of weight, patients with active malignancy, and patients with a history of atrial fibrillation undergoing PCI.
  • Develop an appropriate DOAC selection, dosing, and monitoring plan for patients of special populations.
